1 Things You Should Know Before This Class

Learn why it has become necessary to separate content from presentation and which HTML elements and attributes were deprecated (marked for extinction in future versions of HTML) in favor of Cascading Style Sheets. Review guidelines on how to set up and maintain a web site.

2 Getting Started with HTML

Quickly design a web page using HTML to define the document structure. Organize text into a structured outline by using headings, paragraphs, line breaks, horizontal rules, and lists.

3 Designing HTML Tables

Design a table and use table and cell attributes to enhance the table. Use tables to present data in tabular form and also for page layout.

4 Using Anchors and Links

Use absolute and relative addressing to create hyperlinks to documents on the Web, internal links to your own web pages and links to email.

5 Adding Images to Your Web Page

Review the graphic file formats most widely used on the Web. Incorporate images and apply the most commonly used image attributes.

6 Introduction to Cascading Style Sheets

Use embedded, inline and external cascading style sheets to define the presentation of your web site.

7 Laboratory Practice

You are encouraged to bring your own materials (text files and images) to work on your own web site, or you can use the sample web pages that are provided. If you bring your own materials to class make sure that the content is not something that is critical to your job performance. This workshop provides hands-on practice only.
